    Please, you're grasping.

Historically French is the largest contributor to Cajun Culture.

There is obviously Spanish influence, the architecture is on the Acadian flag.

That doesn't make it off limits.

I agree Cajunvic but unfortunately that word came from the Creole not from the Cajun side.

    I found this:

    Lagniappe - Wikipedia
    en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Lagniappe
A lagniappe is "a small gift given to a customer by a merchant at the time of a purchase", or more broadly, "something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure." It can be used more generally as meaning any extra or unexpected benefit. The word entered English from the Louisiana French adapting a Quechua word brought in to New Orleans by the Spanish Creoles.

This kind of makes everybody a little correct.

I was just making a point that the word was actually derives from the Spanish from the Creole side rather than the French there is no word in the French language that even comes close to the word lagniappe the word that it was derived from came from the Spanish side or the creoles we all know that the history between our culture has come from a mix of both Creole and Cajun

Creole has French in the mix.

There are so many world wide definitions of Creole I don't think anyone can be dogmatic on this.

Yes agreed to Creole has France in it but the word was derived from the Spanish I can’t make that any more clear

Yes Creole has France in it but I cannot be more clear that the word lagniappe was derived from the Spanish side not from the French I know the French the cajun French specifically have adopted it but the word was originally derived from the Spanish word and that cannot be disputed

I think post #78 pretty much settles it.

Technically not from Spanish, but from Quechua, the language of the Inca empire in the Andean regions of South America; and the Spanish Criollos who brought it to New Orleans were neither black nor Native American. They were American born people of European descent.

Doesn't matter, playing the best possible schedule with the highest source of income and developing interest along the way is lagniappe for the Cajuns.

NMSU has mostly reached their glass ceiling. No inherent culture, no location.

Their ceiling is lower than Louisiana's floor.

There is lots of culture in that region along with beautiful scenery. Mesilla, NM was where Billy the Kid was captured, tried, sentenced, and escaped from jail, and Hatch, NM is the pepper capital of the world.

What they don't have going for them is an abundance of high school athletes to recruit from.
