Thread: Prettiest Building(s) on Campus

Louisiana Campus Prettiest Building(s) on Campus

A companion thread to another thread recently started. Here are mine:

    1. Judicial-Rickels. Hands down my favorite, if for nothing else its really nice brick work. And a fun fact: one of the very few buildings I’ve never set one foot in….the other one being Montgomery Hall.

First, a pic of of it when it was brand new

And a couple current pics of it

And I’ve always thought that Girard Hall was a really nice building, and it looks fantastic with the latest renovation and landscaping….once they removed those pine trees and added the really nice statue of Dr. Stephens.

Also, Girard is the 3rd oldest extant building on campus: only Foster and DeClouet are older.

You hit the nail on the head here! These two are hands down my favorite! Stephens Hall comes in at a close 3rd.

Ha….I was just going to add Stephens as one of my top 3. I’m also including a pic of Judice under construction. Seems like construction techniques have improved a tad bit since then.

    Newly finished Stephens

    And today

I always thought Martin Hall was nice.

Judice hall is a very interesting building with lots of precast embellishments. I have always been partial to Randolph, Buchanan, and Hamilton. Mostly because of the brickwork.

Of the new buildings I think Moody hall is very nice. Oliver Hall will make a nice anchor for the new quad where McNaspy used to be.

I understand why they had to tear down McNaspy Stadium. But it had some beautiful brick work on it. It was almost a work of art.

Well, I agree 100% about Moody: they did an awesome job with that building. A big part of the success is the intricate brickwork, honoring Judice-Rickels.

And yes, McNaspy was an awesome structure. Hopefully the new CF can reflect some of that.

I always liked getting to walk across that field going to/from class.

Roger Staubauch and Terry Bradshaw played on the field at McNaspy stadium.

I was a young boy at the time, but I think I remember Terry Bradshaw getting beat up pretty good at McNaspy stadium!
