“ Houston (Texas) C.E. King 2022 offensive lineman Van Wells announced his commitment to Louisiana on Tuesday.
The three-star, road-grader chose the Ragin Cajuns over an offer list that also included Houston, Maryland, Tulane, Western Kentucky and several opportunities from Ivy League programs.
“The winning culture they are building and the people there, it’s all one big family,” Wells said of what set Louisiana apart.
The 6-2, 290-pound Wells is commit No. 5 for head coach Billy Napier and his staff. He earned his opportunity in camp earlier this month.
“I’ve got to meet some of the players and see what’s it’s really all about and it’s about hard work and just playing football which is what I want to do,” Wells said.
“Coach Napier and the staff are really awesome, they are all great coaches who know what they are doing. They are very passionate about what they’re doing.”
Louisiana has signed the No. 1 class in the Sun Belt the last three cycles. Recruiting is already paying off on the field for Napier and his program. The Ragin Cajuns will head into fall coming off a third-straight trip to the Sun Belt title game, 21 wins over the last two seasons and the No. 15 national ranking to conclude this campaign.“
