    Austin Robichaux- Crowley
    Blake Trahan- Kinder
    Chase Compton- Slidell
    Mike Strentz- Lafayette
    Nick Thurman- Belle Chasse
    Ryan Leonards- Crowley
    Joe Robbins- Pineville
    Dylan Butler- Belle Chasse
    Cody Boutte- New Iberia
    Kyle Clement- Jeanerette
    Evan Powell- Lake Charles
    Carson Baranik- Bossier City

The rest of the "grinders" like Caleb Adams, Greg Davis, Matt Plitt, Matt Hicks, and Seth Harrison came from right down the road in Texas.

And these are all names of guys who were mostly drafted. The common theme of these guys was that not only were they local, but there is a certain "brand" of baseball that they fit the mold with. Add in their familiarity with our culture, and you have a four year run that is very hard to match for any school outside of the SEC.
I hope we never go the local route only for softball.

Who said anything about affecting their play?

I just see a trend here. If you talk about the greats that have worn a Cajuns baseball uniform, most of them were from this area.

Fair enough. Is Deggs your guy?

Yeah, he is. His track record elsewhere is too hard to overlook. Plus, he has had one full season at the helm. I do think it is a little concerning that we are overhearing some of these things with unsatisfied players, but like CajunT said; he has time to fix that. But I'm looking at a 3 year period to see where we can go from here.

Maybe if he didn’t have so many players that were sub-par at either defense or hitting, there would not have been so many malcontents.

Remember, many of these players were not happy with their first coach, also.

So, if you have a deficiency, you left your first place and your deficiency did not correct itself, you are probably part of the situation which Deggs found himself in.

If you are one of those, who really should be listening to your bellyaching.

But, where does knowing what your recruits can and cannot do come into play? And why bring in players with uncorrected deficiencies?

Because every staff in America thinks they can change, tweek, or correct minor deficiencies. Here is the issue…i realize some kids are “projects” and signed on potential to be better players in time. But you cant have a team full of them.

You will have to ask that to Deggs and staff. As I initially indicated, the roster selection is on the staff.

The problem with this team wasn’t hitting, it wasn’t pitching. It was fielding. Fielding at this level is a mental game, we lacked grinders and mentally tough players.

As a team we committed 73 errors. Cut that number in half and we win 40+ games.

Now, with that being said, JT is the lead recruiter. He has been and our problems have been consistent for 6 years.

I believe Deggs is the guy and will turn it around and find the right players, with the right mental toughness to turn it around.

This season was a step in the right direction, but a 12 game stretch in the middle of the season kinda did us in.

It must be remembered that there is really only one spot in the lineup for a hitter who can’t field - DH. We had many of those along with fielders who could not hit.

The mental mistakes throughout the season was infuriating. Up and down the roster we had boneheaded mental breakdowns.

Our pitcher who has three plus pitches couldn’t throw strikes and quit the team. We have another stud pitcher who has all the tools, but can’t throw strikes constantly. Then our most productive pitchers has a mental breakdown in the SBC tournament and just threw the ball to the dugout.

So it’s not just position players, it was across the roster.

We need more Drake Osborne’s and less Conner Angel’s.
