If I’m being asked, it’s TBD. I don’t necessarily think he was the wrong hire. It just made too much sense and he’s had success as a HC. Big success.

But if he doesn’t change the way his players feel about playing for him, and get rid of Talbot, I don’t see success in our future. Or what we would consider success. That’s just my opinion, but I can promise you that I would not be saying this without an immense amount of conviction about it.

Well, there was a poster on TD that was asking about Talbot as a potential assistant for their new coaching staff. Anyone have a good resume for him that we could send on East.

He’s in the mix for Nicholls’ job.

It's already started somewhat in the class announced in November (though that class was recruited years ago now):

    5 from LA
    2 from TX
    2 from FL
1 each from IL, IN, SD

The numbers speak for themselves and we were 9 games over .500 this season, versus 3 games under in 2019. If we don't take another step forward next year, the doubters will grow and get louder.

I think the last Florida player we had was four years ago and seem to have given up there.

Fair enough, but that is entirely different than saying you have come to the conclusion he is not the man. To be clear, I'm also saying it is TBD, but my time table is 3 full seasons.

I made that comment at the height of frustration. Things will have to change a lot to change my doubts.

How about an even trade. Seth Thibodeaux comes in as an assistant and they get Talbot as HC. Lol

    I wouldn’t hate it.

I agree. If we have D1 players reading this stuff and it effects there play they need to leave the team.

As far as my comments during the season: I never specifically repeated anything nor did I say names. I never have, in a decade+ of posting.

I knew the coaches would read what I wrote. That’s why I wrote it. Again, I don’t want the restaurant closed down. I want the chef to fix the food so that I can continue to visit his restaurant. As a customer, I’m just providing feed back.
Players, family members of players and coaches do get on this website. That is a fact as many have mentioned this site to me without me even saying anything about it.

I think Jay made in interesting point in his previous post. Most of those teams from the 2013-2016 era were local. For example:

    Conrad brothers- Lafayette
    Tyler Girouard- Lafayette
    Austin Robichaux- Crowley
    Blake Trahan- Kinder
    Chase Compton- Slidell
    Mike Strentz- Lafayette
    Nick Thurman- Belle Chasse
    Ryan Leonards- Crowley
    Joe Robbins- Pineville
    Dylan Butler- Belle Chasse
    Cody Boutte- New Iberia
    Gunner Leger- Lake Charles
    Wyatt Marks- Lafayette
    Kyle Clement- Jeanerette
    Evan Powell- Lake Charles
    Carson Baranik- Bossier City

The rest of the "grinders" like Caleb Adams, Greg Davis, Matt Plitt, Matt Hicks, and Seth Harrison came from right down the road in Texas.

And these are all names of guys who were mostly drafted. The common theme of these guys was that not only were they local, but there is a certain "brand" of baseball that they fit the mold with. Add in their familiarity with our culture, and you have a four year run that is very hard to match for any school outside of the SEC.

I have no reason to believe that we can't find 35 guys within a 6 hour drive that can't come in and contribute to this brand of baseball. Time to get it done.
