A few kids leaving have been a surprise and a few that was leaving and decided to stay is a surprise.
    With this transfer portal and with the Supreme Court ruling it is time that we move to a salary cap in ncaa sports and pay players... the transfer portal is crazy out of hand and also there is 0 commitment by young players to help build your program... the thought is if I can’t start right away here I will go else where...there needs to be contracts signed when signing ball players.... if you institute an athletic wide salary cap for athletes it will help the situation. The horse is already out the barn so we might as well make the changes and let folks know the rules and move forward. Face it college athletics is a business now and it should be treated as such.

    That thought has been relevant since the mothership arrived, especially in MBB. The portal just made it easier.

    This is going to turn into a s*** show where the P5s are going to flaunt it like crazy.

    Without some kind of salary cap it will most definitely get worse and you will have to think creatively to retain players.....there should be a rule if a player is a starter he can’t transfer to a bigger school just to transfer and if they do transfer they must sit out a year...Also each case should be looked at in depth for this situation. This portal and NIL has opened a Pandora’s box and there ain’t no stopping it. NCAA needs to adjust or it will go the way of the dodo

    The only bad thing about that is if you say 40 percent of your games are you a starter? What would really define starter?

    A guy who plays 70-80% of snaps would be a good measuring stick....but that is getting to the micro level at this point. The point I was trying to make is the rules need to be defined and some kind of salary cap in place with penalties for tampering.....this whole situation is about to get way worse before it gets better... Tx St. Might have the right strategy just keep bringing guys in from the transfer portal, because a guy you sign as a freshman probably won’t make it past their sophomore year now a days.

    Thats why I keep saying G5 will have to build yearly teams versus a program.You never know who will be with your program from year to year.

    Schools are cheating now, what makes you think they will follow a salary cap?

    I would like to see the year sitting out reinstated, but basing it on starting leaves too much to interpretation.

    It is the change to immediate eligibility that has created the problems, not really the portal.

    Correct with the right to play immediately the portal has exploded. There is no loyalty anymore.

    Transfers will be up this year because;

    NCAA passed a one time transfer sit out a year exemption for baseball April 2021.

    Rosters were increased this year due to COVID, but scholarship limits were left the same. I believe rosters go back to normal next year. So, there are now extra players from each school looking for a roster spot and scholly money. Sort of like musical chairs.

    So, the NCAA made it more attractive to transfer (don't need to sit out a year) while they cut roster limits.
