The staff we have is not building relationships. They’re not building trust. There is not an environment in the clubhouse where guys can be honest with coaches. Players are largely kept in the dark. There is NO reason why pitchers were finding out literally the day before games that they would be starting.

You cant build a program around the pack mentality when you’re lording over guys and micromanaging every move they make. That’s destructive. (We’ve seen JT do that crap for 6 years now.) When your players observe their coach getting more satisfaction out of public speaking and pushing book sales than success on the diamond, that’s a problem. The players think the HC is FOS. And I got that from “Deggs guys”, not the players some here would call “softies.” When you bring up coaches and the immediate response is hard eye roll, you have a major issue.
While all of this may be 100% correct, do you think it was appropriate to plaster this all over the Louisiana message boards when it happened?

Did doing that serve to increase or decrease our chances of winning the conference tournament and moving to a post season regional.

Would that have been better handled here after the season if the interest of the team’s success was the goal?

Nothing any of us discuss here has any baring on the success or lack of success across any sport.

We will agree to disagree on that subject.

We all know and agree that coaches and players should never visit these boards, however human nature would tell you that they do.

A coach reading these boards that sees that his players are divulging what is supposed to be confidential locker room information or disparaging the coach and coaching staff publicly would certainly be inclined to treat such players differently than if such was not known. Again, human nature.

I challenge anyone on here that does coach to give their thoughts on how they would treat such a situation.

This ought to be an interesting board conversation.

Not only should players and coaches not look at these boards, neither should family members. People in the program can make better use of their time by focusing on how to improve. Family members are likely to get offended by some comments. Now administrators should at least be aware of what is being posted here. Message boards are a good way to gauge what the fan base is concerned with. Occasionally, a good promotional idea is also provided.

Every player or coach I’ve ever asked about RP was either active here or read it often. Every one.

As far as my comments during the season: I never specifically repeated anything nor did I say names. I never have, in a decade+ of posting.

I knew the coaches would read what I wrote. That’s why I wrote it. Again, I don’t want the restaurant closed down. I want the chef to fix the food so that I can continue to visit his restaurant. As a customer, I’m just providing feed back.

The players are playing for the name on the back of the jersey instead of what’s on the front. JT is a problem.

    Jay is spot on.

Agreed. But when you don’t trust the coaches, you can’t “buy in.” And that’s why, I think, they’re playing for themselves.

They players that were chosen to be on this roster and the roster is the responsibility of the coaches. That being said, there were only three or four players on this roster that could both hit AND play defense CONSISTENTLY.

That being said, who on here believes they can find a coach that could put together a consistent lineup with that roster?

As posted earlier, even Corbin was tweaking the lineup card in the CWS with only 4 teams left playing - imagine what that means for a coach with a roster like the Cajuns had this year.

This roster was a recipe for disaster for our coaching staff. Hopefully this regroup will produce a better roster across the board.

…….to add to your timely metaphor……are we getting correct and fresh ingredients and are the chefs performing the right temps and doing it at the prescribed order and time! We hot dog and roasted peanut guys remember that as sufficient to keep the crowds coming to watch Ws!

Your point is well taken. I don’t think it’s uncommon to “tweak” your lineup throughout the season. But there is a big difference between lineup tweaks and staring dudes in positions they’ve never in their lives attempted to play or wholesale changes in the middle of a series that you’re winning.

I had my butt skewered earlier this season when I posted the question if Deggs was the right hire...didnt say he wasn't the right hire, only asked if he was the right hire. So, was he the right man for the job?
