I know it’s early and her 1st season, but she is reminding me of Robe in that she likes to go after CC/JUCO/D-1AA players. They may not be P-5, but they have experience against better competition than HS and they’re hungry to compete. Should make for an interesting chemistry.

It also may fit with her current recruiting knowledge base where she has invested a lot of time the past few years.

You think Brianna Franklin might get some meaningful rotations this season?

I’m just curious since she played HS where my daughter did. I believe her brother walked on to Hud’s football team. Dad is a good guy.

Hard to say. She is only 1 of (4) defensive specialists - which is the same number of def. spec's we've been carrying on the roster for the last 3 seasons. Volleyball is situational. If you're behind, you need to score so you'll pack the front floor with hitters/blockers. If your up, you may want to go on defense and have your libero and def spec's on the floor and only (2) hitters/blockers. So it all depends. At 5'5", she is pure defensive player. So it depends on how well we put up numbers. She played 14 Matches out of possible 24 and 32 sets out of a possible 87; so she played a good bit. (3) of the girls in front of her playing sets are now gone - so while chances have improved just on headcount; (2) of those who are staying, are def. spec's. She'll need to compete.

Plus; when it comes to defense - short is good, you're closer to the ground, it's easier to dig a ball. Shorter players tend to have a slight advantage in quickness to chase down errant bump.

When does the season actually start? I have never been to a college volleyball game but it seems to be something I would check out with the family.

I have seen a few high school games and watched on tv. Seems to be fast paced. When will the season kick off?

It is usually concurrent with football season. We typically go to games on Friday nights.

Schedule isn't up yet. The Athletic Website says the price for admission is FREE. That's a first. Tickets used to $8 per person.
