It was nuts. Wondering why the only game today begins 10:45.

For those that did not see the defensive play by Virginia in the top of the 9th last night vs. Texas, it was an interesting and crucial play that was very well executed by Virginia ... but for some reason the color guys (Burke and McDonald) got it wrong in a sense.
Situation ... Texas leads 3-2 T9th, 0 outs, and the bases loaded. The Virginia infield is playing in. Antico hits a hard ground ball to 3B, where it ricochets off of Geloff's glove in a direction towards Kent (SS) whom is closing behind Geloff. Kent makes a great play to field the ball, moving hard to his right ... and instead of taking the much higher % force at third base, rifles the ball home (off balance). Given that the ball was fired up the first base line a bit, Michaels had to stretch (was basically in a split) to field the ball and his foot was a bit away from the plate. But he made a great tag, while also blocking part of the plate once he had the ball to nail the runner at home. A really incredible play by both the SS and CC. But Burke (mostly) and McDonald postulated that Michaels had forgotten about the force and made a mistake ... and went on and on about it (McDonald was mostly thinking that Michaels gave up on the play at home once he saw the ricochet). It was neither. Michaels had to move into the field of play a bit to field the throw from Kent ... and then made a great tag to get the crucial out at the plate. It is too bad that went unnoticed.
It gave Virginia a chance to get out of the inning as well ... as they got to a 3-2, 2 out count with the bases loaded, before Zubia unloaded on a fastball to the LCF power alley plating three runs and securing the 6-2 victory.

Well the CWS got really interesting today. NC State down to 13 players due to Covid protocols against Vandy. Pitcher that beat Leiter the other day is starting at first base. Oh yeah, players that are vaccinated not being tested in Omaha. So, since you can still be infected after the vaccination a player can be positive right now but not be tested. As always, none of it makes sense.
Devonte Brown with one of the most spectacular catches you’ll ever see.
And just like that, Highfill who pitched against and beat Leiter the other day gets the first hit of the game for NC State.
