On March 21, 2010, at approximately 11:30 pm, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the area of Pierce Street and West Simcoe regarding a disTurbinece involving gunfire. As officers arrived on the scene they observed three suspects involved in an exchange of gunfire across West Simcoe Street. The suspects then turned their focus on the arriving police units and fired shots in the direction of the officers. Officers were able to exit their police vehicles and confront the suspects. One suspect, Carey Glenn Boseley of Lafayette was shot once by police and taken into custody. The two other suspects fled the area.
Boseley has been charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Possession of Cocaine, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm and Resisting an Officer. Boseley was treated and released from an area hospital for a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
The Lafayette Police Department's SWAT Team and K-9 officers responded to the scene and conducted a search of the area, but were unable to locate the two other suspects believed to be involved in the incident. This case is still under investigation.
