I edited this image. Pretty damn close call. South Al wins 19-1 against #15 gators. Awesome for them. Anytime a Sunbelt team beats an SEC team is a good thing. UL will represent the conference in the near future!
Should be quiet, Rustonians lost tonight.
After pounding Florida like a porn star yesterday, South AL now pounding Miami 4-0 at the end of 3. Now 4 runs is not a lot, it is a nice start.
Richard Sorrenti smashes a one-out HR deep to LF to break the scoreless tie in the B3rd. Then with two outs, leadoff hitter Santi Montiel doubles to LF, followed by potential first round pick Ethan Wilson bringing him in with a single to RF. Michael Sandle then crushes one to the LF power alley, giving South Alabama the 4-0 lead over Miami after three innings.
Jo Jo Booker has been skirting disaster in this one, yielding 5 walks (including loading the bases with walks in the first after getting the first two outs) and a HBP. But he and the Jag defense have come out unscathed thus far.
Good stuff.

Of all the times over the years where the Jaguars have been oh so close to a regional title (both in the old 48-team format, where the winner goes to the CWS ... and the 64-team format) ... including being the undefeated team that needs to beaten twice to be eliminated ... this may be the best chance they have to win a regional. They have a good bullpen, play excellent defense, have pitching left, and are hitting the ball in this regional. And while South Florida has been playing excellent ball as well and is in the driver's seat, there is a reason why they needed the automatic bid to make the field of 64 as well.
