Calais worked himself into a good RB, but was not nearly as refined as Smith is now early in his career.

Raymond had HUGE big play production, but to me, it was more of a case of him breaking through the first level and then using elite speed versus displaying elusiveness.

My comment was made to be a compliment to Smith, not a jab at Calais.

.....Smith is a first team all American...realize it is as a returner but still I am interested in the 2 3 and 4 behind him ...I think 2 and 3 will be very good....can youname them......btw get Legendre’s high lite video in NO at Easton....and you see quickly why Alabama offered along with the world!

I think smith will surprise a lot of people running between the tackles

We lost 2 RB’s to the NFL. I would expect a significant reduction in RB production. Especially early in the season.

Mitchell and Ragas were not plug and play backs. They were playmakers who could bail out the offense with great individual effort. Smith will have to step up and so will the rest of the RB room. Lewis as a consistent part of the running game would also help.

I think this year our passing game will need to assist the running game Vs previous years what the running game was the foundation of the offense. If that happens our running game should be fine. If the running game is on a island, like it was for several games last year, I think we will struggle.

As some mentioned earlier, it will be interesting to see if the reins come off of Levi, with respect to running, early in the season. With the depth in the QB room and the lack of experience (not necessarily talent) in the RB room, I can see a case being made to start out aggressive with him, which would also help the running game.

We have had a dip in running back production just 2 out the last 15 years .. I don't think that changes we are a first and foremost a run based offense.

Wow, reading this thread makes me realize how bad we suck.

Maybe Coach Napier should be reading this thread to learn how to coach. Maybe Baldwin could come back and fix this mess.

How do you take that viewpoint away from the thread? Everyone is pretty complementary of the team and the play calling discussion is about college football as a whole...not just Louisiana.

Boomer, I’d be willing to bet Legendre doesn’t see a snap at QB here unless he completely changes his footwork. Athletic ability is through the roof. But his footwork is atrocious and will never allow him to be an accurate passer.

I'm really curious about that LeGendre kid. Top rated QB in Louisiana coming out of HS, clear 4-star grade. Offered by Alabama and Florida State.

Many of us seem to think Chandler Fields is the next starter, but could it be this guy instead?

We stand absolutely no shot at beating Texas unless the reigns are taken off of Levi’s legs.

Was he recruited by Bama to be a QB, or to be converted to WR or DB?
