Oh Levi definitely has limitations in the passing game. But our route development and route tree is severely dumbed down.

That isn’t just a Napier issue or UL issue. If you watch the majority of college football, the offenses you see today are extremely dumbed down compared to 15 years ago.

RPO is why the system is dumbed down. Currently it’s an effective offense.

We are limited by which routes Levi can effectively throw as well. Nothing is going to change that. We may see a more complex passing game with a QB who can throw the entire route tree.

But currently we are a 1 read offense on the majority of passing plays.

Ok so with Fields or maybe even others you feel like the offense would open up more and with Lewis they have dumbed it down to fit his skill set.

Possibly, but Levi adds a dimension that the others don’t. If we start the season off letting Levi run the ball then we may see a much. Enter passing game. Levi is a rhythm player, he plays much better once he is effective running the ball.

C4L is so right. When we defenses take the option away, the laziness is exposed. Do yourself a favor. Watch the ESPN sky cam feeds that show the entire field. Plain as day.

I can't remember seeing a crossing route catch or a bubble screen.. ______

Our running game will be just as good. It will look different, that’s for sure, but the production will not drop off.

We have worried about our running game since Bustle.

Fenroy/Des
Harris/McGuire
Ragas/Mitchell/Calais
Ragas/Mitchell/Smith

The point is,we are absolutely loaded at RB and our OL is the strength of this team. We don’t have anything to worry about there.

Our biggest issue is our terrible passing game and the schemes within the passing game.

The OL wasn't all that good last year as our RPC across the board was down quite a bit and pass blocking was nearly non existant against quicker defenses.

Smith is a better RB than Calais, and can handle the inside running. I wasn't a fan of the RB committee, but it has grown on me. Of course it helps with the stable we have had in the past, but having a fresh RB in there all the time definitely has helped the team out.

I don't expect our running game to be as productive Day 1, but once the others get experience, I believe it will be top notch, once again.

Considering our Week 1 opponent, I hope it is clicking out the gate. That game alone will set the stage to see if this season can be even better than last.

Yep. The good news is that Texas is going through some changes as well as I believe they lost quite a few players including their QB and of course their coach. May be the best time to play them honestly.

I agree with that Raymond was pretty much just speed. Smith vision and patience behind the line is on another level compared to calais
