Good schemes can manifest themselves in many ways and versions of ways.
A scheme where the defender has to pick or choose who to defend creates a temporary window that a decent quarterback can pick apart, is one.
Oh Levi definitely has limitations in the passing game. But our route development and route tree is severely dumbed down.
That isn’t just a Napier issue or UL issue. If you watch the majority of college football, the offenses you see today are extremely dumbed down compared to 15 years ago.
There is minimal QB development, minimal WR development these days. Plays called in from the sidelines and the audibles are given through signs. The game and athletes are better in General, but offensive schemes are much simpler.
RPO is why the system is dumbed down. Currently it’s an effective offense.
We are limited by which routes Levi can effectively throw as well. Nothing is going to change that. We may see a more complex passing game with a QB who can throw the entire route tree.
But currently we are a 1 read offense on the majority of passing plays.
C4L is so right. When we defenses take the option away, the laziness is exposed. Do yourself a favor. Watch the ESPN sky cam feeds that show the entire field. Plain as day.
