I think this year our passing game will need to assist the running game Vs previous years what the running game was the foundation of the offense. If that happens our running game should be fine. If the running game is on a island, like it was for several games last year, I think we will struggle.
I don’t think people understand how absolutely loaded we are at RB. Our RB room is filled with P5 type backs. It has been for the last 10 years at least.

No one thought we would replace Harris and McGuire. Well Ragas and Mitchell were better than those two were.

Will there be a drop off, maybe, but it won’t show in production that’s for sure.

Everyone also needs to realize that there has never been a Defense as talented as the one that will take the field this year.

Agree we are loaded, just not experienced. Hence my concern about early in the season. I believe the OL play will be improved, so that will definitely help.

........Well, like I said, I just was looking up the high school high lites and wow....no wonder The world offered him....take a look at long balls, slant, outs, and can he run. So check him out against the best teams in the state!

I watched him at Maryland and in our Spring Game. He is clearly behind Lewis, Fields, and the Fresno transfer.

IMO Fields was ahead of everyone for the spring game.

I agree Fields was the best QB that night. QB1 should be LL without question but Fields will ball when called upon.

Yeah, that's why many of the top teams in the SEC offered him, because of his atrocious footwork. Got it.

He looked pretty accurate to me Boomer, but what do we know!

Fields had better be ahead, he's been in this system for 2 seasons and a spring. If you compare HS video of him and Legendre, there is a noticeable difference. A lot of things need to fall in to place to get comfortable with a new team, staff and offense. The talent, in my opinion, is there. I know coach will give him a fair chance to see the field, but he'll have to earn it. It will be on him.

That's what I'm thinking also. You can't just expect new guys to step in for two guys who consistently put up huge numbers over several years and are now in the NFL. It's just too much to expect. As I mentioned earlier, our running numbers were down last year from the year before as it is. I'm sure Smith will be fine but the truth is he has not been asked to do more in the past and to expect him to plug into one of the roles of the departed guys and have similar numbers is a bit premature IMO. Again, I'm fairly certain we did really well in recruiting to the position this year and will have some quality depth but its a lot to ask freshmen to just step in and do what Ragas and Mitchell did so well.

More is going to have to asked of Levi and he's going to have to step up. It will help that our receivers, who were really young last year, will have that experience and should be better but they need to get better at getting open. Levi had way too many tight windows to have to try to put the ball in last year. Need to run the playaction bootleg type of plays getting Levi outside the pocket and making him a big threat to run. That will help open things up in the secondary.

Maybe Coach Napier should be reading this thread to learn how to coach. Maybe Baldwin could come back and fix this mess.
