Led by returning senior and Sun Belt All-Conference performer Levi Lewis, Louisiana's quarterback group is poised for another strong season in 2021.
Lewis, who announced he was returning for his fifth and final season with the program at the end of the 2020 campaign, has history in his sights. The quarterback from Baton Rouge currently ranks second in school history with 54 career passing touchdowns and third in program history with 6,286 career passing yards.
Last season, Lewis appeared on numerous watch lists early on and proved why he was one of the top field generals in the country by throwing for 2,274 yards, the 26th most nationally, and 19 touchdowns, the 20th most in the country.
He added 335 yards on the ground and five touchdowns during the 2020 season, which saw him join Ian Book (Notre Dame) and Justin Fields (Ohio State) as the only three quarterbacks to throw for more than 5,000 yards, more than 45 touchdowns, less than 11 interceptions and record more than eight rushing touchdowns over the last two seasons.
Lewis finished the season with Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors and was named to the Davey O'Brien 2020 Quarterback Class.
Louisiana's only other returning quarterback who saw game action last season was Chandler Fields. Fields appeared in two games and recorded six pass attempts and one rush.
New to the room is Lance Legendre, Zy McDonald, Hunter Herring and Ben Wooldridge. All four quarterbacks took reps during spring practices and will look to make an impact heading into Fall Camp.
