Good game in CUSA Tournament

Southern Miss leads Louisiana Tech 3-1 in the T8th in Ruston (Tech is home). Tech #1 Fincher has pitched into the eighth, but gave up a lead off double and has been pulled. USM #2 Walker Powell was replaced in the 5th by hard throwing lefty Ryan Och. Och has mystified the Tech hitters and has hit 98 several times in this game to go with a nice breaker.

Though I do wonder if the gun is juiced a little. Och was throwing 93-94 against the Cajuns in Hattiesburg. That is a lot of velocity to add during the season. But possible. Just as I say this, Martinez comes in the game for Tech throwing 97. Gun is probably a couple of mph hot.

It has been rather chippy in the last inning.

Ryan Och pitches a stellar 4 innings of relief and Southern Miss hangs on in the 9th to defeat Louisiana Tech 4-1 in Ruston.

USM had the freshman Waldrep in to close. The gun had several of his pitches at 100mph. The announcing crew was then speculating that the gun may indeed be hot.
