No surprise in a sport that gives partial scholarships. Baseball is going to be crazier than MBB. Years of travel ball not resulting in a full ride scholly and a solid starting position fuels the portal. A ton of proverbial little fish in a real big pond.

This is where an established coach can keep a few and the importance of making the NCAA’s is obvious. Every year will be a rebuilding year otherwise.

Until it changes back and costs the player a year, this is the new normal. A complete cluster duck.

Yes I believe me and you coached against a local area kid who played for Marucci. He is over in the Mississippi area. Heard he is in the portal looking to get on at UL since they have openings. Great kid, but his old man is a big turd.

First, the kids switching teams left and right in select aren't the ones being recruited to play at the top D1 schools. Blaming select baseball on a failure to recruit better players isn't the systems fault, it's the coaches fault.

Second, if a coach leaves a school for another, is he penalized? No, but before the transfer rule change the player was penalized. The higher number of transfers is due to the one time transfer rule change, not the portal.

Third, the portal is just a way for everyone to know who is looking to transfer. Before the portal, it wasn't public knowledge but the same talks about transferring and players contacting other schools was already happening.

What about your specialty of baseball could any of the UL guys go to say D3? Do you even know of any D3 schools in the area?

Looking at D3 schools in the area.

2 in Alabama
1 in Arkansas
1 in Mississippi
12 in Texas (Avg yearly tuition of $31,700)

Coaches don’t have 5 years to play 4....they have a lifetime to coach. We have had 3 coaches leave here before ever coaching a down that I can think of, I’m sure it’s more

And we must not forget that at the heart of this issue and the main cause for ruin are the coaches in select ball.
