I am not sure about softball generating more money than MBB, but I do know that softball that recently had higher numbers in seat donations than MBB as of a few years ago. And I am sure people will say "Well, softball has a loyal following, history, blah, blah, blah."

There is absolutely no excuse for softball to have higher seat donations than the second largest revenue generating sport in college athletics. Actually, men's basketball is 4th when it comes to fundraising behind football, baseball, and softball. There's an obvious disconnect. No spin to it.

Fundraising yes, overall revenue? I'm not seeing it.

According to last year's report Baseball and Softball made more money than Men and Women's basketball

I also saw a comparison to softball and baseball on attendance. I think the info you guys are using is a bit skewed. For instance, our program as of 2019-20 which was the last normal situation we've had, MBB averaged about 3,700 fans per game. It was the same the year before. Go to softball, in 2019 which I believe was a great year for them, they averaged 1,300 fans per game. How is softball considered a bigger money generator than basketball?

I know others have mentioned how much lower our program is than in years past but I also went back to 2005-06 when we had Southall and Mitchell. Average attendance was 3,400 per game. When people look at our program and say basketball is dead in the south, again, they are wrong. Our attendance is actually the same if not more than it was back in the more exciting days. The only difference is the apathy that Marlin has created.

MAT is right in his previous post about their inability to generate excitement and fund raise and connect with the community but I can't understand the skewed views some have about our different programs.
If you got your softball attendance from the NCAA website, I should note that the NCAA only counts the attendance in one of the two games in a doubleheader, whether in a home tournament or a conference doubleheader, but still counts it as two games which skews the per game average somewhat. You point is still valid as it only moves the 2019 paid attendance up to about 1700, but just wanted to bring that up.

Before I say this, I’m ready for a change. That said...

Who do you think Maggard will listen to? A person that walked away and now says they’ll donate/buy tickets predicated based on a change, or a donor that stayed with the program thru it all?

    Asking for a friend...

How many donors are there and how much are they giving?

And also, if we were to make a change, would those donors stay on board or be loyal to a particular coach? At this rate, I would think that most basketball supporters are loyal to the program to the point where they would support whoever is the coach. And to add on to that, their loyalty would be an addition to many people who are on the sidelines right now that might come back if there is a change.

The fans walking away are the always the one that has the AD attention

This is not opinion. Look at the annual report for sports revenue that the RCAF mailed out. Basketball is behind the diamond sports.

How much does it cost to run the ac in the dome? Zero cost at the softball field. MBB has more expenses to run game day management. So when it comes to making money they don't.

Barely more? We had over 3100 for the LSU game last year.

I was out of town for a few days and only listened to interview yesterday. I enjoyed Brad telling the stories from the old days and his passion cannot be questioned. I agree that the program needs to do a better job in the promotions area. I understand they were planning some new things in that regard this past season but Covid put a stop to it. Still, much improvement could be made in that area and Brad had some good points on how to to do that. Regarding scheduling, the 2 for 1 idea he suggested is one many including I would support. However, Dr. Maggard does not want to enter into those so he would have to be convinced otherwise. Finally, from what I understand Malik Wilson left mainly due to wanting to play at a program with a high chance to regularly be in the NCAA tournament. He found that in Texas Tech. I am not sure how much of the decision was due to the environment here. A few days after the season ended his Mom was on Twitter expressing good things about the program and looking forward to the next Cajun season. Overall, I enjoyed that podcast as much as any other. Brad may be a good person to have as a guest on a semi regular basis. Suggestion is for him to come back on in October before the season starts. Doing so during a football bye week is suggested. He could preview the Cajuns upcoming season, talk about HS outlook in the area, and discuss how his TBT team did in summer. Granted, it would have to occur before he became too busy with duties of coaching his own HS team.

Revenue doesn’t matter, marlin makes more than the entire softball staff combined.
