How do I find the history of the Louisiana name fight history? I can’t find the thread. I need to enlighten someone on the fight the University dealt with.

Battle for a name, originally written by cajunDiehard
I am not trying to go down a rabbit hole here, but I know I have seen here before links to summarized versions of UL’s fight for our name. I was hoping someone here had one.
Backstory: I have a friend at work who “supports” UL, but is in all ways an LSU fan. He is the epitome of the “casual fan”: native of Lafayette, lived in Lafayette all his life, never attended LSU or UL, and is clueless to the Louisiana name struggle.
I’ve been trying to explain to him the naming issue. This conversation has not been adversarial because he has no clue about the issues involved. I am just looking for a summary to help explain what all of this means.
Thanks in advance.
One easy way to explain is using Texas @ Austin or UNC-Chapel Hill.

Also never forget that LSUNO was changed to UNO by the same laws that we were in the same year I believe. Nobody has ever forced them to reapply for the name change under the new law created for us.
Name fight is over. We won. Period.
We need to update the Battle for a Name document now that we are in a Louisiana-for-athletics battle-has-been-won world
……..The BATTLE FOR THE NAME IS NOT OVER……it goes on every day on different boards and in sports pages, including in Louisiana……along with the name the abbreviation part is still confusing…..for instance I didn’t realize that LA was an allowable sub for UL….there are those that know much more on the matter than I…..but the fight continues especially by those that hate us!
