The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Track and Field team makes its final tuneup prior to the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships when it travels to Hammond to compete in Southeastern Louisiana's Conference Tuneup on Saturday at the Southeastern Track Complex.
Action will start at 7 a.m., with the 3,000-meter steeplechase with field events beginning at 10 a.m., with the remaining running events set to begin at noon. Louisiana, which will compete in its final meet prior to the SBC Championships on Mary 13-15, will join host SLU in the five-team field that includes South Alabama, Central Arkansas and Nicholls.
Four Louisiana athletes ranked No. 1 in the Sun Belt Conference – Amite's Kiana Foster, Serenity Rogers, Yves Cherubin and Nathan Fergusson – will each compete with Foster ranked first in the women's 200-meters and second in the 100-meters. Rogers enters the meet ranked No. 1 in the SBC in the women's 100-meter hurdles with Cherubin ranked first in the men's 110-meter hurdles. Fergusson heads into his final tuneup prior to the SBC Championships ranked first in the men's 400-meter hurdles.
Both SBC top-ranked 4x100-meter relay teams are scheduled to compete for Louisiana with several members looking to move up on the Sun Belt Conference Performance List in their final attempt before the SBC Championships.
Multi-event athletes Chandler Mixon (110-meter hurdles, pole vault, shot put), Juliette Smith (100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put) and Ivana Cecchetti (800-meters, long jump, javelin) will each look to improve their marks in their respective events for Louisiana.
