We could use some smart base running from what we have seen this weekend. I would rather Dalton on the bases than some of the starters that we have on the bases. If she can't bat we could use some late inning defense help at 1st also.
I agree that she is a very good base runner. But most of the base running mistakes have resulted from Glasco and Roberts sending runners when they shouldn't have.

Not sure it is necessarily from them 'sending' runners, but I do agree they are being coached to be extremely aggressive on the base paths and it is carrying into the games.

Majority of base running is the player reading the play, as the play is in front of them except when scoring from 2nd base or going 1st to 3rd on a hit to RF.

Specifically on Bryan getting thrown out at 3rd in the 1st inning today, she has to read if the 3B came in to field the ball. If she does, you don't slow down and you beat the SS to the bag. This should've been a very easy read.

For folks that understand softball and baseball this makes perfect sense. For others they will say the coach sent them. Most of the bone headed base running errors have been by the players them selves.

We are almost 90% through the regular season. At what point does it become a coaching issue?

It is absolutely a coaching issue. It just isn’t an in-game coaching issue, for the most part. This has to be drilled in practice, going through situations. Too many base running mistakes, across too many players for it to be a player-only issue.

Go listen to this. It's ok to disagree with the approach and philosophy, but to question the coaches ability is off base.

Agreed. Glasco knows the game, and he wants to put pressure on the other team. A better term than coaching-issue is coaching philosophy.

This team HAS to be aggressive come tournament time. It’s not something you turn on and off with a switch. This team is good but Coach knows it will take aggression to make noise in the NCAA’s.

Agression is fine but not at the expense of bad base running. Especially yesterday when runs are at premium, you can't give away outs, especially at 3rd with no outs.
