Well, we started our Ace, played error free baseball, in a hitters park, chased their best guy by the 6th, and still got dominated by a team picked to finish 4th in the SBC WEST.

There was something wrong long before today. Robe was complaining about lacking hose drinkers and such. Throw Covid and the extra year of eligibility, Deggs has inherited this mess. Not many want to go down that road discussion wise, but it is what it is. Many want to blame Talbot, but he wasn’t making final decisions.

Missing the NCAA’s while living in the past is partially what killed our nationally respected basketball program. Baseball is in better shape to survive but the ship needs to right soon. Missing the NCAA’s was happening before Deggs, but it’s his to fix.

I remember Sam Houston’s first time coming to the Tigue with Deggs at the helm. I was speaking to the parents of their center fielder. I can’t remember his name but I think he ended up drafted in the third round. They were telling me Deggs ____ed off a lot of people when he came in because he shook things up. He flipped the lineup dramatically and demanded buy-in. He had their kid switch hitting with no experience doing it ever. Caused short term pain, but that was the team that went to the supers a year or two later. Maybe something similar is occurring here. Don’t know, but there is a heavy feeling around this team.

This is Matt Deggs’ team. Look at the turnover in roster over the last 2 years. Yes, there are a few guys that came here to play for Tony on this squad, but all of them are pitchers and thats about 5-6 guys.

This has nothing to do with Tony. It has everything to do with JT recruiting mechanics over mentality, the kind of team we’re trying to build and the analytical way that Deggs’ and JT coach. Wells (a Tony hire) has been brushed aside. BJ is a figure head. The guys feel alienated and no one knows what the fûck is going on day to day.

No trust, no room for negotiation, no individual thought allowed. These ____ing guys micro manage every aspect of the game from start to finish.
