why aren't schools in the state allowed student athletic fees? Correct me if I am wrong but didn't UNO have a campus vote for this fee to be tagged on to their semester tuition last year?

ULS schools are not allowed a student fee, the LSU system allows student fees, but they must be voted on by the students. UNO's students did not vote for it and it caused them to drop to Division III because they could no longer fund athletics.

I was told last week by the women's basketball coach at McNeese that McNeese just passed a student athletic fee of $12 per semester. So has something changed, I don't think she made this up?

We have a $15 Athletic Improvement fee included in our tuition if that means anything.

Im a recent graduate, the students at UL already pay athletic fees. We voted and self imposed the fee increases 2 or 3 times during my 9 years there. The previous imformation about ULS not allowing student fees is incorrect.

I think that "Athletic Improvement" fee may have been the fee to build and maintain the IPF. As I understand it that money cannot be used for anything else.

No. It's not. UL students have not voted for an athletic fee. The IPF was built using an auxiliary funds fee. It is a loophole. The dance team practices in it to legitimize that it is an auxiliary and not an athletic facility

So why all the complaining here on this board that we don't have student athletic fees and what stops us from raising it?
