Thread: DALTON AND O'NEIL

    UL Softball DALTON AND O'NEIL

Lets say both return before the post season. Where do they fit in? Starters or subs? If starters where will they play. I have an idea but I will let a few others give it a shot.

If I remember correctly, you have indicated in past posts that there are about 15 starters (excluding the circle) on this team. Only 9 can play at one time. This is why I don't believe it was either appropriate or good for the TEAM to use injuries as a reason for any of the games where we failed to score as many runs as the other team. Yes, any sports fan wants their team to go through the season without injuries, but they are a part of the game. When a team is as deep as this team has shown to be, it is not appropriate to blame losses on injuries. Except for Oklahoma, every team in the country has a number of losses. This is a diamond sport, and by the nature of the sport, there will be losses regardless of who is on the field.

These two players will fit in right where the Coach thinks they will fit in. It is really nice for the Coach to have so many options. Having that many options should not result in blame on the players that the Coach chooses on a day to day basis and should not resort to the excuse of injuries as a cause for the losses. Again, its a diamond sport and there will be losses 99% of the time no matter who plays on a team with this much depth. With this depth, generally the only position where an injury becomes substantial would probably be in the circle. That is my 2 cents.

Where do they fit in if they return this season is the question? I never said we had 15 position starters, I said we have 13 or 14 kids that would play. Never blamed injuries but I did state with everyone healthy we would have better stats as a team. Regardless of who starts and the talent level there is always a give and take with players. Example Keen in right field provides great defense, speed and bunting. Heath in right field proves gap and over the wall power, decent base running and average defense.

Shouldn't lose starting spot due to injury unless a starters skills diminish due to the injury...

Ok so say Dalton goes back to SS and O'Neil goes back to CF and there skills are the same. Where does Bryan and Mayeax go now?

Bryan/O'Neil CF/RF, Mayeaux back to First Base, Rawls back to catcher and Heath DP

Kean and Milz would then run bases if needed

So Bryan and O'Neil would both start in CF, hummm? Bryan is our best player. No way she rotates with O'Neil in CF.

Vic do you watch or keep up with softball? We will not take Milz bat out of the lineup and Milz isn't coming off the bench to run for anyone. She has had 5 surgeries and is not a fast runner at all. In fact a lot of times she is pinch ran for. Heath, Keen, Sands would all run before her.

From what I've heard, it's a longshot for Dalton to return.

You will have to take Heath, Milz or Mayeaux out of the lineup the way I see it. You go ahead and pick which one you taking out. If Dalton is not back, then you don't.

You are one condescending __'r. Don't ask for suggestions from fans if that is the way you are going to be. You will never change, that is why nobody likes you.
