    Default UL vs. Purdue

    Cajuns down 7-5 in the top of the 4th. Donna getting hit hard again.

    Amazing. Very un-Donnalike. [I]15[I] hits, [I]11[I] earned runs, 1 strikeout, [B][I]7 [B][I]walks (unacceptable), 3 home runs & 4 doubles.
    Cajuns lose 14-7, finish up with Cal. State Fullerton tomorrow. It would not be a good thing to lose to a team that has over 20 losses on the season, even on their home field.

    Final score: Purdue 14 UL 7

    Something wrong with D. Bourgeois? This is her worst record (7-7). Who is calling the pitches this year?

    I read in the newspaper that Lotief calls the season a marathon, not a sprint. I don't like this scenario for softball. Why compare softball to running? In softball, the goal is to win the game. In marathon running, the goal is to cross the finish line (first or last) with your best time. That analogy leaves all sorts of derogatory extrapolations for softball. What is he trying to tell us?

    Maybe she has some sort of injury. She has not been nearly the pitcher she was last year. This might be a long season, it's almost half over already.

    Maybe it's the same as a hitter losing the cleanup hitter? Add Brignac to the equation and things look different...

    Different is not necessarily better. I would rather have 100% of Ashley next season than 90% this year.

    Here is a 'goal' danger I have been afraid of for a while now;

    The lackluster/backburner way in which the basketball coaching situations have been handled (over the last two years) is in effect sending the message to all UL coaches ‘relax' 'winning is only a secondary part of your job.'

    I wouldn't believe that for our softball program for a second. Stef and Michael wouldn't willingly accept that.

    I'm not so sure about that. If a pitcher gives up 14 runs and as many hits, and obviously is getting bombed, wouldn't you have taken her out of the game earlier while you still had a chance to win it?
