The last time we played in Mobile was 2016. It was the next to last weekend of the regular season.
Friday we lost 3-2 on a walkoff single by Travis Swaggerty. Gunner was masterful that night, allowing two unearned runs on five hits. The loss dropped the Cajuns four games behind USA in the league standings.
Saturday the Cajuns won 5-4 in 11 innings. Cajuns took a one run lead into the bottom of the tenth but Swaggerty homered off Dylan Moore to force another extra inning. Kyle Clements' homer in the 11th was the game winner.
Sunday the Cajuns won 6-3. Louisiana scored five runs in the first two innings as the USA starter had control problems and the Cajuns took advantage.
The following weekend the Cajuns swept ULM, while Troy beat the Jaguars two out of three to create a first place tie in the standings. The Cajuns won the tiebreaker with the series win the week prior and were the #1 seed. South Alabama stumbled in its first tournament game, losing to UTA. The won the next two but were eliminated by Georgia Southern. Cajuns went through the tournament unbeaten, and Wyatt Marks shoved it in the title game 5-0. Nick Thurman was the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. Cajuns went on to host a regional in the final games at the old "Tigue."
