    Yeah, I think it is way too early to tell, but I always thought that the decision was made for a lot of sentimental reasons, in a time of great shock and sadness. I have been part of this same error on the personal side, and while not huge, we realize now that we did not make the best of decisions while also bearing the grief of a sudden death of a parent. This situation always reminded me of that issue.
    I can't remember his name but there was an assistant coach at I believe Moo St that I was really pushing for: same age, mentality etc of Napier, and I just thought that would've been the better move....if you take out all the emotions.
    But again, I still think Deggs is a great coach, and has plenty of time to prove himself here.

    Jake Gautreau I was also a bigger supporter of hiring him as HC he was assistant coach of the year in 2019.

    Half of you guys said we needed to hire Deggs to fix everything 3 years ago now we can’t even give him a full season to turn things around. Not sure if its funny or sad the way some have zero patience. If we could only go back and read some of the early Napier threads on the old RP.

    No one wants to build anything these days. Expect zero growing pains and automatic success, but that’s the society we now live in.

    I remember those of which you speak. The diversity of opinion ran the gamut then too.

    Deggs’ first season at SHSU consisted of a 31-28 record. Two years later, he was playing Florida State in a Super Regional.

    He will get it done here. It just takes a little time.

    He also had Harvell as an Assistant can we steal him from Nebraska
