If you have 2 hitting coaches you don't have one
..........lWell think about it this way....supposedly Talbot is an excellent recruiter and must do the job quite well if we are getting the guys we want.....that being stated, are they living up to their hype? So is it the product that lands here or is it in fact the coaching that brings mediocrity which is what we have....after the p5s,I think we should get just about all that we offer.......after Speggetti did his work Friday, I guess the froggies were wondering why they signed some players......hey ltur takes 3 from the greenies and they were thought to be the year of the wave!

I thought Talbot was out of coaching and Deggs recommended Talbot as his replacement.

Passing of a legend, pandemic season, revamping a roster, and a relentless schedule thus far....yes hes the man for the job. Its not a magic act. Wouldnt wanna be in his shoes. Thats for sure.

    Yes.

When Talbot came in after Deggs, the thought was that it would continue what Deggs started - same coaching philosophy, coached together before, just grow it.

I can remember Jut telling me we have “the next best thing” when Deggs left.

First off, yes he was and secondly as opposed to who? almost complete roster overhaul, first time we have been above .500 heading into conference since 2017. Battling some injuries and plenty of fixable issues. I think things will slow down for some of these guys in conference and I feel like we are getting closer to a consistent lineup

The article doesn't mention Deggs recommending Talbot.

I thought Deggs returned the favor on his way out.

Not sure any favor was needed. Robe figured if he got Talbot, the hitting transformation commenced by Deggs would continue.

Tony tried to hire Talbot in 2012/13...Talbot was working on his family life at the time and recommended Deggs and vouched he had his issues under control

A truckload of coaches that were successful and currently IN the game would have loved the job.

It not the most normal thing to continually go to the reclaimed bin for a hitting coach.

I have a distinct memory of Deggs backing Talbot.

Robe went after Talbot as what he thought was the best avenue to continue with the Deggs hitting system. So, all you say may be correct, however none were the driving force.
