I think it's much too early to tell. But my biggest concern was he would keep Talbot. Which is the case and I don't think he will ever kick him out.
From what I hear Deggs is trying to copy Tony's style as a way to honor him. Which is great but imo cutting your own path and growing a program Tony help build is a much better way to honor his legacy.
"Deggs is trying to copy Tony's style" Might be in more ways than one, Tony Hung on to Talbot also.
But Tony never fired anyone.
This conversation already?!?!? Lol.
This is Deggs' first FULL season as head coach. This is also the first time since 2017 where we are above .500 this early in the year. This team is a work in progress that might not fully pan out to as far as next season. In the meantime, we will see what this team can do in conference as it starts for us this coming Friday.
Easy answer to that question. YES
You just made my ignore list
My reply is YES.
That said, I have been wrong almost a handful of times in my life, and I suppose I could be wrong here. But I do believe he was the correct hire for the job, and the necessary one.
It’s been said it’s hard to be the coach that replaces a legend. Right coach, may be wrong time. At least Deggs knows the cULture.
Deggs was my only choice. Cajun Nation needed a family member and he was family.
I think this scenario would make him the wrong coach, unless he is not in control of his staff, which I don't believe.
I am more of the belief that it is WAY too early to tell. Has he even coached a season worth of games here yet? Dealing with Robe's death and the pandemic is quite the tall order.
Everyone has been calling for JT's head for years. So far two highly-respected and successful coaches have seen fit to keep him around. Maybe there are things we don't see that they see behind the scenes. Offensive production has definitely taken a fall, since he has been at UL.
..........lWell think about it this way....supposedly Talbot is an excellent recruiter and must do the job quite well if we are getting the guys we want.....that being stated, are they living up to their hype? So is it the product that lands here or is it in fact the coaching that brings mediocrity which is what we have....after the p5s,I think we should get just about all that we offer.......after Speggetti did his work Friday, I guess the froggies were wondering why they signed some players......hey ltur takes 3 from the greenies and they were thought to be the year of the wave!
Passing of a legend, pandemic season, revamping a roster, and a relentless schedule thus far....yes hes the man for the job. Its not a magic act. Wouldnt wanna be in his shoes. Thats for sure.
