Thread: After Big Friday Night Win, Louisiana Drops Series vs TCU 1-2

  1. UL Baseball After Big Friday Night Win, Louisiana Drops Series vs TCU 1-2

Louisiana Baseball will host No. 15 TCU for an exciting weekend series at M.L. 'Tigue' Moore Field at Russo Park.

Louisiana snapped its five-game losing streak by beating Nicholls State on Tuesday night, while TCU steamrolled Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 20-2, during the midweek.

Similar to the Cajuns, TCU had some trouble in its last weekend series, losing two of three to Gonzaga last weekend.

Who: No. 15 TCU (11-6) at Louisiana (10-8)
Where: M.L. 'Tigue' Moore Field at Russo Park
    When: March 19-21
    WATCH: ESPN+
    Listen: KPEL 96.5
On the Call: Jay Walker (play-by-play), Brad Topham (color)
Last Meeting: Louisiana lost, 7-1, (2/26/2016)

    PITCHING MATCHUPS
Friday: RHP Spencer Arrighetti vs. LHP Russell Smith
Saturday: RHP Hayden Durke vs. LHP Austin Krob
Sunday: RHP Carter Robinson vs. RHP Johnny Ray

    Bomb Squad
Connor Kimple and Ben Fitzgerald smashed back-to-back home runs in Tuesday night's game against Nicholls State, becoming the first Cajun duo to do that since Orynn Veillon and Handsome Monica did so against Louisiana State on April 16, 2019. Kimple and Fitzgerald have combined to hit eight of Louisiana's 15 home runs on the year.

    ERA Leaders
Louisiana's pitching has been sharp all season. The Ragin' Cajuns currently lead the Sun Belt Conference in team ERA (3.65) and total strikeouts (172).

    B33N Fitzgerald
Louisiana's Ben Fitzgerald is one of the hottest hitters in the conference, ranking in the top 10 in batting average (.344), slugging (.656), on-base percentage (.437), doubles (7) and home runs (5).

    Swipers
The Louisiana Baseball team has been stealing bases at an incredible clip this season, ranking seventh in the entire NCAA in bags swiped with 33. Tyler Robertson is the team's leader in steals with nine, which ranks 11th in the NCAA.

Spaghetti with a side of revenge
Louisiana starter Spencer Arrighetti will pitch against his former team on Friday night. The former Horned Frog is currently one of 16 pitchers in the NCAA who has a sub-1.00 ERA and has pitched in 20.0 or more innings on the year.

    Scouting the enemy
TCU will throw Russell Smith on Friday night, a 6'9" lefty who will be making his 20th start with the program. Saturday's starter, Austin Krob, has powerful stuff and was listed as the 33rd-best pro prospect by D1Baseball to start the year.

    Against TCU
Louisiana owns a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series between the two schools. The last matchup against the Horned Frogs came in 2016 at Minute Maid Park, when the Cajuns fell 7-1.

So ARRIGHETTI gets to go tonight. I hope he can control his emotions against his old team and lead us to victory!

  3. UL Baseball Arrighetti, Fitzgerald enjoy huge nights in Cajuns' game one win over TCU

The night couldn’t have gone much better for UL sophomore Spencer Arrighetti facing his old club.

For Ragin’ Cajuns junior first baseman Ben Fitzgerald it actually did.
