Louisiana's starting pitching rotation, Hayden Durke, Spencer Arrighetti and Carter Robinson, all own ERA's south of 2.70, making Louisiana the only pitching staff in the Sun Belt to have three pitchers with ERA's below 2.70, minimum 15.0 innings pitched.
Buster Posey Watch List
Drake Osborn has been named to the Buster Posey Award Watch List, given to the top Division I collegiate catcher. Osborn, a first-year player at Louisiana, spent four years at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, earning Southland Conference honors in 2018. This season, Osborn is hitting .240 in seven starts, but has missed the last few games due to injury. His best game of the season came against Tulane, going 4-for-6 with a double, home run and four RBI during opening weekend.
Good Company
Ben Fitzgerald continues to swing the bat well for Louisiana. The Mason City, Iowa, native is just one of three players in the conference to have a batting average over .320, on-base percentage over .450 and slugging over .570, minimum 40 at-bats. The three players who qualify for this are Fitzgerald, Justin Thompson (Texas State) and Mason McWhorter (Georgia Southern).
Against Southern Miss
Louisiana and Southern Miss are familiar with each other. The Golden Eagles and Ragin' Cajuns have squared off 51 total times, with Louisiana owning a 28-23 advantage in the series. The last meeting between the two school came in 2019, when Southern Miss defeated Louisiana, 7-6, in Hattiesburg.
So. Miss is sporting a 201 batting average. Let’s go Cajuns.
Oh I like free.
sweet
Suddenly, it’s three frustrating losses in the last five games now for the UL Ragin’ Cajuns, and the competition doesn’t get any easier any time soon.
