No. 7 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball bounced right back from its first loss of the season by unleashing a flurry of offense in a 7-0, 16-0 (5 inn.) doubleheader sweep of Buffalo on Friday at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.
The Ragin' Cajuns (8-1) clubbed four home runs and generated 28 hits combined over the course of the evening's action which was punctuated by season-high totals in both runs and base hits with 16 in each category.
Alissa Dalton led off the second inning of Game 1 with a home run that sparked a three-run frame which was more than enough support for Kandra Lamb who yielded only one hit and struck out a season-high tying eight over five innings.
Louisiana scored in every at bat, highlighted by a 10-run third inning, to make quick work of Buffalo (0-6) in the nightcap. The Ragin' Cajuns sent 15 batters to the plate in the third inning scoring spree.
Four individuals turned in multiple-hit outings led by Bailey Curry who went 3-for-3, drove in a pair of runs and posted her first home run of the season. Julie Rawls led a group of seven Ragin' Cajuns who posted at least one RBI with a team-leading three.
Casey Dixon started in the circle and allowed only one hit over three innings, but the highlight was the Louisiana pitching debut of Karly Heath who struck out in the side in the fourth inning. In the next half inning at the plate, Heath launched a two-run home run.
Friday's games marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
