Thread: In three games, Cajuns went from first place to facing crossroads in season

  1. UL Basketball In three games, Cajuns went from first place to facing crossroads in season

It’s likely a question asked more than a few times in Cajun Country since UL’s 72-66 home loss to ULM on Thursday night in the Cajundome.

“How did the Cajuns lose to a last-place team on a 10-game losing streak?”

Time for Bobby "Big Fish" Marlin to hit the road.

Different sport but point well made.

To me losing to a 10-losses-in-a-row ULM in basketball, is worse than losing to a Viator lead McNeese in football.

Endless mediocrity due to recruiting, actual coaching, or a combination of both. Don’t worry we’re going to eat this dung sandwich one mo year.

Agreed, and the excuses about being short handed or playing freshmen don't fly. We should beat them every time no matter the circumstances.

With Bob it’s never a lack of credible coaching. Let’s see cancer coach, cancer players mutiny, injuries, chemistry, youth, injuries, we’re their super bowl, the West is really about the equivalent of ACC teams, and endless excuses

Gueye, Wilson, Russell, and Awkuba were part of the starting 5 the other night which gave up a 22-5 ULM run.

The excuses are beyond being old. Add in the insulting quote about football, and you have a coach that is either blinded by his own propaganda inside the basketball offices or straight up lacks self awareness. It’s probably both if you ask me.

I want all our coaches to do well, but Bob’s already got one foot out the door with his new venture.

500k would be very attractive to a lot of up and comers.

Lack of Marlin to get ONE guy on the court to be the Alpha male the others look to. That's what I have noticed the last few years. Jay Wright was the last guy others knew was the Alpha. Don't have to be the best to be Alpha, just be a solid leader. As Jay got dinged up down the stretch in '18, things fell apart. And now here we are, 2021, and Marlin throws another UL team under his bus.

    Good point.
Cedric is not a vocal leader. Quiet leader at best. Wilson is only a sophomore. Trajan and Julien are injured. The others are in 1st or 2nd year in the program. Haven't seen the passion of a Jay Wright since, well...Jay Wright.
