UL Softball Feb 12 SB opening lineup

The Cajuns open up softball play friday at 4pm against Missouri State. Anyone want to take a stab at the starting defensive lineup for this opening game. I will go with this from what I have seen.

    LF-Ciara Bryan
    CF-Raina O'Neal
    RF-Kendall Talley
    3RD-Jade Gortarez
    SS-Alissa Dalton
    2ND-Kaitlyn Alderink
    1ST-Taylor Roman
    DP-Bailey Curry
    SP-Kandra Lamb
    C-Julie Rawls

I defer to your knowledge, especially since much of your take is from witnessing it in person.

I would still love to see other opinions.

Line up looks about right to me. I’m just hoping Rawls doesn’t have to catch both games Friday. Baylor will be a tougher matchup for Summer. Looking forward to see the new players.

At least the weather is looking much better for the weekend. Not as cold as earlier predictions were showing.

I am thinking Rawls will catch both games friday and if we win easy for the first game her and Curry make switch out for the 3rd game. Rawls is super fresh at this point, she didn't catch much in the fall. We will see.

I like your lineup. A "tweak" here: I think Justice Miltz might be the DP. She hit 3 Home Runs off Summer for the last scrimmage. In that scrimmage, Bailey got a Double.

I have said all along that Juice will be the wildcard. I just don't see her starting game one.

Or let her DP in the second game against Baylor.

Her bat is lethal when hot. She hit like 460 with 15 hr and 55 rbi as a soph at Georgia. She has had about 4 or 5 knee surgery's from what I have told. So I think her bat more than her fielding will help the Cajuns. There is also a chance Keen could start before Talley. If that happens then you have Curry, Miltz, Talley, and Boswell as DP options. It might just be who has the hot hand at the time.

It saddens me that I have been so busy trying to keep my job that I haven't taken advantage of any opportunities to watch this team, but now that the season is starting and the majority of the games are on the weekend, I may be able to make time to attend. If any of you hear about anyone who won't be able to use their tickets, I would be happy to buy what they aren't using. That appears to be the only way I will be able to get in.

I wish there was some room for Mayeux, she is a very versatile, talented, hard worker. Also, what do you think the batting order will be?

I’m with you in that. Curry must have fixed the holes in her swing to be ahead of anybody for the DP position. I think Mayeaux is a better hitter than her and Boswell but I haven’t seen any scrimmages this year. Just going off of last year. Either way, if Mayeaux can’t find a spot then it’s a great problem to have...

Probably the hardest worker on the team. She may red shirt this year. We will see.

For some reason, he has has always liked Curry. Boswell and Mayeaux should definitely get their chance.
