St. Landry Parish Council has voted unanimously to purchase a legal review of its municipal codes from the Municipal Code Corporation, or Municode.
According to documents provided by the council, Municode will "conduct a comprehensive legal review, on a chapter-by-chapter basis; current ordinances (if any on hand) would be included in the review process. The review would identify obsolete provisions, conflicts and inconsistencies in conjunction with current state statutes, as well as conflicts within the Code itself."
St. Landry Parish Council spokeswoman said that the current book of parish codes is redundant and outdated and needs to be reviewed to delete duplications and remove ordinances that are no longer needed.
