SAN ANTONIO – The Louisiana Women's Tennis team earned its first victory of the season and sixth consecutive season-opening win by beating Incarnate Word, 6-1, in San Antonio on Saturday morning.
he Ragin' Cajuns No. 2 doubles pair of Clara Mantaux and Isabella Kierkegaard sealed the doubles point for Louisiana since Incarnate Word did not have a pair in the third doubles spot.
There were only four matches played in the singles competition since the Cardinals could not field two players for the No. 5 and No. 6 singles lineup spots. Floriane Picaut beat Alejandra Landaluce, 6-3, 6-0, to bring home a win for the Ragin' Cajuns.
In her debut as a Ragin' Cajun, Kierkegaard outlasted Kinga Psut, 6-2, 6-2, and won her doubles match, giving her two wins on the day.
Louisiana Women's Tennis will be back in action tomorrow morning as it faces Rice at 11 a.m. in Houston.
