After missing the last two Sun Belt Conference weekends due to COVID-19 issues with its opponents, Louisiana Women's Basketball returns to action on Jan. 22-23 when it travels to Arkansas State.

Tipoff on Friday is set for 6 p.m. CT, with Saturday's game slated to begin at 4 p.m. CT. Both contests will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and ESPN1420 AM.

Louisiana (2-5, 1-1 Sun Belt) has not played since its Sun Belt opener at Texas State on Jan. 1-2 and returns after 20 days away from competition. The team was scheduled to take on Little Rock (Jan. 8-9) and UT Arlington (Jan. 15-16), but both series were postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.

Junior Brandi Williams has been a rock for the team all year and will look to continue that trend when the season resumes. Williams currently leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.0 points per game, and has scored in double figures in six of the team's seven outings.

Right behind Williams on the stat sheet is senior Ty'Reona Doucet, who will be getting her first taste of Sun Belt play this weekend. The Ville Platte native is currently averaging 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest and leads the team with eight blocks.

Arkansas State (9-1, 4-0 Sun Belt) has been on an absolute tear as of late, entering the weekend riding a nine-game winning streak. In the team's most recent outings, the Red Wolves locked up a series sweep over ULM in Monroe.

Jireh Washington has been a strong all year for A-State, starting in all 10 of the team's games and leading the team in scoring with 12.4 points per games. Jada Stinson (11.9 ppg) and Peyton Martin (10.3) round out the Red Wolves' double-figure performers.

The Red Wolves lead the all-time series over the Ragin' Cajuns, 52-19, but Louisiana has found success as of late with victories in four of the last six meetings. With a win, Louisiana will earn its first win over Arkansas State since Dec. 31, 2017.
