Thread: ULM Introduces Coach Terry Bowden

People ULM Introduces Coach Terry Bowden

Below is the link to the ULM press conference introducing Terry Bowden and his staff hosted by ULM alum Tim Brando. I must admit, they did a good job and it should provide a bit of excitement for the ULM community. But as is always the case, any new support will be short lived if things don't work out. The link is posted below but the conference does not start until the 20:00 minute mark. Brando (I always like him) does a terrific job of hosting and attempting to fire up their base.

I get it; they are getting publicity, but eventually these wonder boys will have to produce something on the field.

Regardless of how they do on the field, this was Absolutely the best introduction of a football coach I have seen. The interview style was a grand slam. Tim as host was amazing to watch and enjoyable as good entertainment. I would love to see more teams copy this style. Of course those personalities and their history with each other makes for great chemistry to watch. The buzz in Monroe should be off the charts. also nice to have the staff in place enough to get them involved. Most of these happen so soon, the staff is not in place yet. what I like about older coaches who have had success in the past is their willingness to be open and honest.

I always enjoyed listening to Bobby Bowden and his good old boy and down to earth style. Terry is cut from the same mold.

He lost me around 26:30 mark when he stated “Monroe is a vibrant town.”

    Good luck with that.

This explanation definitely makes more sense than the gibberish he was talking about...

.......Maybe not so vibrant but just compared to Ruston it clearly more by much! Just thinking it would compare Lafayette to what town around here....any guesses?

You haven't seen the Texas intro and welcoming of Coach Sark that I posted earlier. I applaud ULM for taking this step. But, that set-up was high school.

I will go check out the Texas one. Very true, ULM introduction was not going to be accused of being a high quality production, but that was not the point. The narrator and interview style they did was different from any others I've seen and it was enjoyable to watch as a fan of the sport. Different from the standard version every other introduction does where the AD speaks, new coach gets up and speak about what they going to change, that was a real plus for me. I would have liked to see them answer questions from the press afterwards. that would have made it complete for me.

I just watched the ULM video and I am happy for them. I will never condemn someone for trying to better themselves and they are going for it!

To compare a school with a $100+ million annual budget to one with a $10 million budget is silly. ULM did good with this hire and I look forward to the challenge ahead.

Just thinking out loud but how did ULM afford TB and RR? Are those two getting paid by other universities in a structured buy out from previous jobs which allows them to accept a much much lower salary than there used to or are they just willing to take anything that comes along just to stay in coaching?

Bowden was an unpaid analyst at Clemson, if I recall...RR is probably flush with cash...and, contract may include a bunch of items that may take the place of cash..car, insurance, housing, etc...
