On March 17, 2010, the Lafayette Police Department arrested Thurman Travis Thibodeaux (31) of Lafayette for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. The arrest stems from an incident which occurred on March 16, 2010, at approximately 1:10 am. Thurman Thibodeaux is alleged to have gone to his ex-girlfriend’s residence, in the 100 block of Texas Street, and kicked in the front door. Once inside of the residence, Thibodeaux engaged in a fiscal altercation with another male subject inside of the home. During the struggle Thibodeaux produced a handgun and the male victim fled from the interior of the residence, down the street. It was at that time that Thibodeaux allegedly fired at least one shot in the direction of the victim. The victim was not injured during the incident. Thibodeaux fled the area the night of the incident before officers could arrive.
Thibodeaux was arrested in the 100 block of Frank Street without incident on March 17, 2010. The case remains under investigation.
