Wel we are always jumping through hoops. LA as an abbreviation does nothing to detract from being UL.

Right now, the Athletic department is using LOU of all things.

You absolutely will never be able to use UL on sports tickers live stat pages because Louisville already has been assigned it, takes it, and owns it.

Verbally Louisville does not use UL, Louisiana does. But on sports tickers it is the other way around.

Also, the State of Louisiana prevents the University from using UL, which in no way prevents fans from using UL. The State of Louisiana can neither prevent, nor is it illegal for the University to refer to itself as Louisiana.

LA is a pigeonholed use case, that mentally reads Louisiana and will never replace UL, and in fact enhances it.

LA on a ticker is just an abbreviation, nothing more. Right now they are using LOU

Wasnt it declared just yesterday that we had won the name war? These posts lead me to believe otherwise

It has been declared many times but to use an analogy... just because Coke is #1, it doesn't stop them from advertising heavily.

The name war aka branding is a 24/7 job...UL has learned that lesson the hard way...

Turbine is 100% correct. For ALL sports related abbreviations Louisiana must move to LA. This does not mean we can’t refer to ourselves as UL and/or remove UL from our baseball hats...just media related abbreviations.

I like ULA. It takes away the L.A. confusion. Besides, it's worked pretty well for UGA.

The brand is Louisiana. ULA takes away from what we actually prefer to be called.

Like UGA does for Georgia? That makes no sense.

It makes all the sense inside the state of Louisiana. Have that U or “University” before Louisiana and it will summon the name police faster than bolt of lightning. We must be all in on all accounts with Louisiana. Plan and simple.
