The 2020 College Football National Championship Game between Alabama and Ohio State.
The 2020 College Football National Championship Game between Alabama and Ohio State.
While watching the game last night, I couldn't help but notice Mac Jones (who threw for nearly 500 yards) and how many passes that were completed were NOT put on the money and his receivers hands easily. I say this because I saw a number of balls thrown behind receivers who had to adjust to make the play. Smith probably had to do this on half his catches. I noticed these things in light of all the discussion I've heard about our QB and how he is not a passer, can't throw the deep ball etc...
Is this an "OT:"?
Zephyr made sure it was On Topic.
Great receivers make their QB look good.
They understand that the ball isn't owed them, and I'm not referring to the last split second of the completion.
Great receivers come back to the ball. They adjust their speed, both faster and slower. They stay aware of how a play is developing and work with the QB to see the desired outcome.
I think Louisiana will see great improvement in this area next year.
You can learn a lot from a National Championship game.
Thanks! Ive often wondered that actually. Also whether qb's really always "see" the field as the telestrator armchair qb shows us, or if sometimes they throw to memorized spots and times.
So
Much is the reading of defenses like in bball ...man or zone...man needs separation and zone needs finding the vulnerable area...how about the ROP....run or pass....the linemen don’t know and got caught downfield on one pass completion!!!
Last night's game was the least watched final this century. Also In the last 15 seasons alabama has been in two out of the three lowest watched final games
Too much success creates apathy. Nobody I know thought OSU had a serious chance. Add to it the general malaise that’s set into the country.
in that other thread regarding ncaa and tv deals the issue seemed to be that ncaa thought if games were on tv attendance would suffer, now nobody went or watched? was the premise wrong all along?
With COVID rules, attendance was limited to I think 13k... until this season, full or nearly full stadiums and tv games co-existed as a money maker for networks. I suspect, as was mentioned earlier, the matchup crested very little buzz, nationally, not many cared for these 2 teams, pretty much made the game a non event outside of Alabama and Ohio.
Alabama-Ohio State was the least-watched national championship game in BCS or Playoff era

As much as you hate to see the same 3 teams in the CFP each year, it seems (unless you're a fan) I don't know what you do.
I'm all for expanding the playoff, but even still the Alabamas, Ohio States and Clemsons of the college football world will still be in and probably win the thing.
A few ideas
-Investigate and make sure the "analysts" arent also coaching
-Lower scholarship limits
-Salary cap on total coaching staff salaries
-Investigate coursework/increase academic standards
-implement some kind of rotation system since there are five p5's: year 1 playoff is conf a,b,c,d/ year 2 - b,c,d,e/ yr 3- c,d,e,A.. Etc etc
-tier the signing days and make playoff teams go last or deduct amount they can sign
....i realize these arent fair ideas and probably not even that good, but focused on "how to not have same teams in over and over"
