Ah yes. You are right.my bad. I was just going off that he seemed older and was in skool at bama longer than prior two bama qbs....after further review he and the last two (now nfl) qbs are same age, but he has two years left. Go figure.

Now there are rumors Sark turned the job down. Texas is obnoxious enough to have boosters that will never allow 100% control over the team for a coach. I think we are safe. Other than OU on a good day, there is nothing there. When the SBC owns three of your members on ONE weekend, you suck.
Besides, what job in the Big 12 is more desirable than an SEC gig? None.
If anyone is worried, no Austin flights in or out Lafayette.

One of multiple reports of the turn down.

Texas will not win the the current Big 12. Texas A&M to the SEC has really hurt their recruiting.
The Big 12 should consider adding additional schools east of Texas. Definitely consider Memphis and UCF.
This opens up Big 12 exposure and recruiting grounds in the gulf states. Until this happens, Texas will always trail LSU, Texas A&M, Clemson and Alabama.
It's not the coach, it the current ceiling at Texas in the Big 12.
Could maggard say we agreed to have our cajuns coached by napier play at texas coached by herman, ...with a new coach it should be considered to move the game to cajun field, since we have the more experienced tenured coach and didnt change the agreement
Or move to the cotton bowl
I'm not sure 'Bama would hire an assistant. They want a proven HC, probably from a P5.
If, indeed, Napier's dream is to pilot the 'Tide, then that would explain why he turned down Auburn. It would be poor form to jump from Auburn to Tuscaloosa, it would cause problems from the getgo.
On the other hand, UT would be a nice springboard to 'Bama.
The problem is, can Napier win there? That sounds ridiculous, because UT has more money than Saudi Arabia. But that's exactly the puzzle. What is wrong with the 'Horns that, with all their money, they aren't dominating?
