The vote is in and the fate of N.P. Moss Middle School is decided. Wednesday night, the Lafayette Parish School Board voted unanimously to keep N.P. Moss open as a Middle School. The decision was made after recommendations were introduced by Superintendent Burnell LeMoine.

Under the motion that was approved, N.P. Moss will stay as is, but will also include an academy for science, technology, engineering and math. As for the Comprehensive Career and Technical High School, that will open next school year, temporarily on the Lafayette campus of Louisiana Technical College. Meantime Lafayette School administrators will be busy finalizing a deal for an unnamed, permanent site for that technical school.

When the final vote came in there was applause and a standing ovation by an audience that embraced the decision. One of those in attendance, N.P. Moss assistant principal Juanita Thibeaux.

"You're my man," Thibeaux proclaimed to Superintendent LeMoine, before laughter and applause from the audience.

"He is my man, and he knows I love him dearly," Thibeaux said.

School Administrators will be busy finalizing a deal for the unnamed site for the technical school over the next few weeks, before presenting it to the school board members at their next meeting.
