Eunice High School had quite the celebration today. Students graduating from Eunice High School this year are the 100th class to graduate from the school since it opened more than 100 years ago. The Eunice Alumni Association held a centennial celebration on March 17th for students, faculty and alumni.
The celebration included breaking ground for a future brick courtyard, ringing the original school bell 100 times and releasing green balloons up into the sky. All of this was made possible by the Eunice Alumni Association and the principal of Eunice High.
Principal Mitchell Fontenot said he feels “Very lucky, very honored, especially being principle at this time. I've been here 20 years or so and I'm lucky this is my first year and it coincides with the 100th anniversary, so I'm very honored."
Students can start buying bricks to go in the courtyard for just a few months. They are hoping it will eventually cover the entire front lawn.
