Today, troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D investigated a two vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Deridder man on US 190 near Milepost 8.5.
Killed in the crash was forty-eight year old Stephen E. Curry of Deridder. Curry was killed when the vehicle he was driving crossed the center line into the path of an eighteen wheeler. Curry was pronounced dead at the scene by the Beauregard Parish Coroner.
According to investigating troopers from Troop D, on March 17, 2010, at about 1:46 p.m., Curry was driving a white 2001 Toyota Camry westbound on US 190 near Milepost 8.5. Curry entered a curve and crossed into the eastbound lane into the path of an eastbound 1983 Peterbuilt driven by Ricky Young of Deridder. Curry's vehicle struck the rear axle of Young's trailer killing Curry on impact. Young was not injured in the crash. Alcohol and drug use is not suspected however toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The crash remains under investigation.
