I have largely been away due to family issues. Can someone give me a quick overview of where this class stands nationally and in the belt. Assuming everyone committed signs. Thanks
No surprises from the 1st 5. These guys were all listed on 247sports as committments. Glad to see them on board. According to 247 we are still missing 9 who have not officially signed and they are also listing Glenn Beal, transfer TE from A&M.
Here are the ones we are officially waiting on:
WR Robert Williams
DE Kason Boston
RB Kendrell Williams
S Cajae Ceaser
QB Zy MacDonald
CB KeySavalyn Barnes
DE Cameron George
ATH Jalen Clark
ATH Montavious Davis
for sure.
According to 247 we are 3rd in the SBC behind APP and Georgia State. Overall they have us listed as 92, but allot of that has to do with the fact that we only have 14 players listed and one of those does not have a rating at all. Kendre Gant is a JUCO that has no rating according to 247. But out of HS he was a very highly rated player with offers from FIU, UCF, FAU, Louisville, Temple, Troy and USM. He originally signed and enrolled at FIU, but then transferred to JUCO.
Gant played WR in HS at Port St. Joe in Florida, but was recruited as a DB at FIU where he redshirted. He is listed as a ILB on 247, but my assumption would be he would be more of a hybrid Safety/LB for us. Kind of like Pedescleaux
Well here might be the first "surprise". Tyrone Lewis Jr is in. He is a transfer from Kansas State. He is a Safety from Hammond who signed originally with KSU.
Nice pickup
Offers from KSU, Tulane, Arkansas, Ball State, Arkansas State, FIU, Houston, Iowa State, UL, La Tech, ULM, Memphis, mIssouri, Ole Miss, SMU, USA, SLU, USM, Tennessee, Texas State, Troy, Utah, Utah State and WKU out of HS.
Lewis played 4 games for KSU in 2019 as a reserve DB and Special Teams. He was the 52 ranked Safety by ESPN in 2019 and the 26th ranked player in the state of LA that year.
Really nice pickup.
Another "surprise" John Stephens JR is in. A transfer WR from TCU. He is a big one, 6'4 206 lbs from Logansport, LA. Some nice offers out of HS which included Arizona State, Mississippi State and TCU among others.
As a Sophomore at TCU had 11 receptions for 157 yards and appeard in all 12 games. This year only had 1 catch for 5 yards.
Another Big 12 transfer.
