After picking up the program's first win over Sun Belt Conference foe Appalachian State, Louisiana Football has moved to No. 17 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll.
The No. 17 ranking is the team's highest in the modern era in the AP Poll, surpassing its No. 19 ranking from earlier in the season, while achieving its highest ever position in the Coaches Poll.
In its last outing, Louisiana was able to overcome miserable conditions in Boone, N.C., to secure a 24-21 win over Appalachian State.
With the win, the program has now defeated every team in the Sun Belt under head coach Billy Napier.
Louisiana now shifts its focus to the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 19, against No. 11 Coastal Carolina.
The title game is slated to kickoff at 11 a.m. CST and will be broadcast on either ESPN or ESPN2.
