Thomas has 0 steals on the season according to the stats. Between the two of them they have 1 rebound and two made baskets, both by Richards in 2 games, 1 steal (Richards) 1 assist (Richards) 2 Turnovers (1 each), Granted Thomas did not play vs Baylor.
Meanwhile Butts had 2 steals last night vs UNO.
Believe it or not the team is shooting 46% on the season (Granted Awkuba is carrying the team with a team leading 83.3% from the field), where we are horrendous is from 3 point land, where we are shooting a total of 23%.
And most of that is Mylik Wilson who is 1-7 and Gueye who is 0-4. As bad as Russell has looked he is actually 5-16 or 31% on the season, which is not as bad as I thought. I would have assumed he was around the 25 or lower %
In 100 3 point shots if you hit 33% you only score 99 points. If you shoot 50% on 2 point shots in the same amount of attempts you score 100.
So yes you are correct. My assumption is always anything above 33% from 3 point range is pretty OK. The problem is the team is only shooting 23%. Wilson, Gueye, Au, Butts, Garnett and Thomas are shooting a combined 4-26 and that works out to 15%. That is terrible. Especially from guys like Wilson, Au and Butts who are your guards. In actuality if those guys shot more like Russell we would be feeling allot more confident. The other problem is defending the 3.
Look Baylor is good and they shot 15-27 from 3 point land, but you should not have had an average at best UNO team shoot 6 of 20 vs you. The better teams are going to light you up if you can not defend the 3.
