My assumption would be that this is because the game stats were provided by ULM and that is what they called us on the Stat Page.

My early thought as well, but as Cajunrunner pointed out, UL didn't make this mistake after the "2018 game at ULM, we were listed as LA."

Doesn’t ESPN and other places use on occasion UGA for Georgia etc... I feel we won the name war. Perhaps there are legal reasons UL doesn’t use “Louisiana” all the time?

Nope.

There are no legal reasons for anyone to avoid using "Louisiana" or "LA" on a ticker.

It's a "claimed" nickname.

From everything I can tell the athletic department righted the ship with Appalachian State and LSU Shreveport. Louisiana on everything.
